Khotwa Magazine hits the stands

15. 06. 2011

During the closing ceremony of the second session of the Forum for Social Development, held in Jeddah from June 4 to June 6, the audience was surprised with the distribution of Khotwa Magazine. AlMohtaraf has been commissioned to develop the master maquette and journalistic concept for the magazine, applying it through the editorial design of its first issue.

Khotwa (which is the arabic for step), a magazine on sustainable development, is published by Prince Majid Society for Development and Social Services. AlMohtaraf developed an editorial concept around the saying ‘a mile starts with a single step’. Its long and thin format, together with the woodfree paper support the magazine’s concept. A fresh approach to the design is expressed through the use of portrait close-ups, combined with free hand illustration and one recurring visual element that borrows from demonstration banners to hold call outs of the articles and interviews.
