WAJ Magazine, a Taef Literary Club publication

04. 09. 2010

AlMohtaraf was commissioned to design the bi-annual magazine for the Taef Literary club on the occasion of Souk Okaz Festival in September, 2010. The format of the magazine (17x24cm) is almost a pocket-size publication that makes it very friendly and accessible for cultural subjects such as literature, poetry and critical essays.

The masthead design is a thick rendering of the word WAJ (the glow of light), with  super thick strokes in contrast to thin counters. The red dot holds the Club's logo. As a result, a whole typeface was developed for use int he major sections of the publication. To contrast that thickness, a handwritten text was used for all the internal pages that renders more intimacy and a literary sense.
