Kameel Hawa gave a talk entitled al-khatt al-'Arabi fi al-fann al-mu'asir—Arabic Calligraphy in Contemporary Art. December 13 at 6pm, in the conference hall of the 56th Beirut Arab Book Fair. The talk was attended by many contemporary artists, critics and curators who engaged in a heated and interesting debate on the importance of the "hurufiyyat" movement in modern Arab painting.
